Questions About Clearly Lasik Eye Surgery

Donald asks…

How long does it take to see clearly after Lasik/Customvue eye surgery?

I had mine done 4 days ago and things are still blurry!

admin answers:

That varies from person to person. Several things can affect post op vision clarity. 1) Post op dryness can decrease visual acuity 2) Inflammation 3) Residual prescription remaining following the procedure. 4) Normal post op healing.

So depending upon what is causing your post op blurriness, it may just take time and frequent lubrication or it may actually require an enhancement procedure later on should you not be right on the numbers with your correction.

Charles asks…

LASIK eye surgery aftercare?

I have had LASIK eye surgery. 24 hours after surgery my surgeon removed a contact which he had placed over the left eye; which was put there to avoid severe pain/discomfort. I can see clearly from my right eye, but vision in my left eye is blurred and bloodshot from having the contact removed. Has anyone experienced this or heard of this, and will the sight in my left eye improve?

admin answers:

No, this is not PRK - lens would not be put on for 24hrs and then removed - it would be on for 4 days. In terms of how your vision will recover, it would be useful to know what prescription you had before treatment and what treatment plan was undertaken - ie what vision was intended. How old you are etc. In terms of your surgery, I can surmise the following :

You have had any of the following : corneal abrasion, thin flap (epi / Bowmans), bad flap, full cap. We typically put lenses on all Lasik eyes for 24hrs as we cut very thin flaps on all our patients. However, the fact that you only had the lens put on one eye means that something has not gone according to typical plan.

Now, this may not be an issue, patients do squeeze more on their second eyes and minor flap complications most commonly occur in the second eye (normally left). Your eye is also not bloodshot from the lens, this is sub-conjunctival haemorrhaging, again caused by excessive squeezing of the eye and increased pressure that is applied by your surgeon in order to complete the flap. Don't be surprised if you end up with a fair amount of darker bruising in days to come in your sclera (white of your eye).

Sight wise this is difficult to say unless the precise issue is known, but typically vision is not affected by thin flaps or full caps. Corneal abrasions may hurt a little, but also heal up relatively quickly without damaging vision. Badly cut or ragged flaps are more difficult to predict. Do make sure that you keep using your steroid drops and go back for your follow-up appointments regularly.

Lasik Eye Surgery Question?

I just had lasik eye surgery a little over a month ago, and I'm still experiencing blurriness. It's not as clear as I hoped for. Will it take some time for the eyes to heal before I can see clearly? Thank you in advance. : )

admin answers:

It in fact can take several months for the final results of LASIK . You may have good and bad days for up to a year. Sometimes blurriness, especially after LASIK, is a sign of dry eyes. I would advise that you use preservative free artificial tears. You can not over use tears and it will help with the healing process. If this does not help, or if you are concerned in any way, contact your doctor.

Sandy asks…

Lasik eye surgery - yes or no?

I started wearing glasses when I was 5 years old - as long as I can remember I've never been able to see clearly.

I've always wanted to swim in the ocean and be able to really see its beauty. But I can't.

I've been considering Lasik eye surgery for years and just read a news story about it.

Would you do it?

admin answers:

NO!!

LASIK not is safe!!

LASIK destroyed my life.
I lost my job and studies, and now I can not read without my eyes hurt due to dry eye.
I will regret for life.

LASIK causes dry eye.
The dry eye is forever.

PD: LASIK was the worst decision of my life. LASIK promotes permanent conditions with no cure:

-Dry Eye Syndrome
-Double Vision
-Night Halos/Starbursts
-Depression
-Loss of Visual Acuity
-Accelerated Aging of the Eye
-Lack of Natural Tear Production
-Each Year Post LASIK Vision Gets Progressively Worse
-Cell Tissue Mutation

Maria asks…

Is lasik eye surgery safe?

does it have side affects? what are they? how much does a good surgery cost? how much do you pay for it? do you see clearly? does your vision get worse after u get surgery?

admin answers:

There is very minimal pain. It's more like an ""achy" feeling. It cost around 4000.00-5000.00 most ophthalmologist will have a finance plan. You will definately see clearly. Some people even see 20/20 the first day. Set up a free consultation and check into PRK over Laksik. A little longer recovery but it's safer due to the fact that there is no "flap" With lasik they have to make a flap and there's alway a good chance the flap could wrinkle and you have to get it fixed. So definately go for the consultation, you may learn something that you didn't know before! PRK!!!!!!! HAPPY SEEING
