lasik????????????????????????

does anyone know how much it costs? and if getting the laser kind is some kind of hassel compared to getting the one were they cut your eye with a knife(which is never going to happen to my eye)? and isnt there something different if your dealing with an astigmatism?

Lasik.......?
How old do you have to be to get the surgery?. I'm 16 years and how much could the surgery cost?
admin answers:
Unfortunately you have to be 18 years or older with a stable refraction. Hang in there, you're almost there!

LASIK Eye Surgery and than becoming a pilot ?
Hi guys,
My eye vision is 2.25 L and 2.00R. I would like to do this Lasik eye Surgery so than I can see everything without needing a specs. My question is, is this possible to do and can I still become a Pilot or will I have problems later in Life ?
Thanks.
admin answers:
YES DON'T DO LASIK!!!!! You will ruin your military flying career!! PRK is the only authorized corrective surgery for pilots. I am going to flight school myself and have researched like crazy! Current prices are around $3500 for both eyes. The military also requires one year healing time after surgery; so plan accordingly! Good Luck!

Why is PRK preferred over LASIK if you want to become a pilot?
Is it impossible to become a pilot if you have had LASIK? Why is PRK preferred over LASIK? Eye doctors and opthalmologists under you, can you give an answer to this? PRK has a longer recovery period, but still is it safer than LASIK, which seems to have a very fast recovery compared to LASIK? Can anyone recommend a good web site where I can get all this kind of information?
admin answers:
I may not be getting this 100% correct, but my sister is trying to become a pilot and she had to get PRK because of the fact that LASIK involves peeling back a layer of the eye, making the correction, then relaying that layer. The thing is, is that the layer never really "heals", and if you ever have further corrections made, they no longer need peel back a layer as that cut was made in the initial surgery. Pilots are put under more strenuous conditions, so they need PRK. I would recommend looking up more info about what PRK and LASIK are on wikipedia or other sites.
Linda asks…
How long after lasik can i start exercising?
I have a weekly routine where on weekdays i run 2 miles in the morning. do push ups, sit ups, and calf raises in the afternoon. and jumprope in the evening. some people told me a couple days after lasik but others told me a month.
admin answers:
A month is correct. I am currently working at a Corporation for lasik right now. Exercises is not good for you. Girl also can not wear eyes shadow for about 3 wks. Since I am an staff member I got my lasik for free, my sight is still good and I work on computer more than 12 hrs a day. Have you make your appointment for consultation? I recommend that you do because not all pt is a candidate to get lasik and make sure you get a doctor with long term experience. It should be free of charge. Your eye sight will be so clear right on the next morning. If you need any additional information, let me know.
