Your Questions About After Lasik Contacts

Donna asks…

Is it safe to wear colored contacts after Lasik?Because it does not change your eye color?

And dont be an idiot and put "You should not need contatcs if the surgery was a success".Because it is just for colored contacts not prescribtion.

admin answers:

It would be safe once your eye is fully healed and your surgeon has approved it.

Linda asks…

Is it possible to wear contacts after a lasik surgery?

as weird as it sounds, i like wearing contacts but my vision is so bad(-6.5) that it annoys me and i want to have permanent clear sight. so is it possible to wear contacts(colored) even after a lasik surgery? or do the contacts have to be non-prescripted??

and is it possible to get bad eyesight again after the surgery?

admin answers:

Yea i've heard of ppl doing that!! As far as your eye sight getting bad again, there is no permenent way of fixing getting your eyesight fixed, however if your lucky your eyesight wont get bad again!! Although you will want to check with your optometrist just in case i'm wrong, or if anybody that gives you an answer are wrong!! Best of luck!!

Thomas asks…

Can you still get LASIK after wearing contacts for years?

My contacts have high prescription. I've been told that contacts can damage the surface of the retina, therefore it's less safe to get LASIK. Is that true?
Is it safe to do LASIK if I stop wearing contacts for months before my procedure?

admin answers:

Only an ophthalmologist can give you a definitive answer. There are many reasons why one would be a bad candidate for Lasik surgery, including wearing contact lenses. If you stop wearing the lenses for the specific amount of time specified by your Lasik surgeon, you should be able to have the surgery, provided you do not have any other optical problems that would eliminate you as a good candidate for the procedure.

LASIK or Refractive Vision Correction surgery is laser surgery that can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. No one should have this surgery until they are absolutely sure their vision has stabilized, usually in your early to mid twenties, give or take several years. If you have the surgery prior to total vision stabilization, you will have to have the surgery repeated. LASIK is surgery and has many of the inherent risks of any surgery. Prior to committing to this surgery, you must do your homework and be willing incur the risks and side effects associated with this surgery. LASIK is considered cosmetic surgery, is not covered by health insurance and can be quite expensive. Lasik is irreversible.

Anyone contemplating LASIK surgery must research the procedure thoroughly and ask lots of questions of your surgeon. You must check out your ophthalmic surgeon thoroughly, ensure that you are a good candidate and check out all the possible side effects. Although LASIK has helped many people, it has also been very detrimental to others even causing permanent blindness and drastically reducing one quality of life.

See below under "source(s)" for additional information regarding Lasik and the permanent risks associated with this surgery.

Steven asks…

Can you wear colored contacts after getting Lasik?

I had Lasik done 2 1/2 years ago - I'd like to wear colored contacts for Halloween. Will I risk tearing my flap?

Prior to Lasik I was a contact user for 15 years, so I feel confident I can insert and remove the contact as carefully as possible.

admin answers:

I had Lasik 8 years ago and have worn contacts since then. They were uncomfortable for me, but I had other corneal issues going on. I know a lot of people who have been able to wear contacts after Lasik - just have to find a brand that is comfortable for you!

Good Luck!
